We’re building the AI era’s connected device for families, a new way for households to see, talk, and create together across generations.

The physical part of our product, the Hearth, sits above the TV. It connects families across homes through shared virtual spaces, places where groups can drop in, talk, and build things together using our Shared Imagination Engine, a generative AI system that turns ideas into shared experiences.

We’re a small, multidisciplinary team building a device and platform that prioritises creativity over consumption. As a founding team we've done 3 previous startups, and exited twice. Alongside our core roles at Higlo, we’re launching something new: Founder in Development (FID).

What is a Founder in Development (FID)?

FID is a full-time role at Higlo designed for people who want to become founders.

You’ll join us as a key team member, work across the business, and over roughly three years you’ll:

  • Learn how a startup really works, from product and go-to-market to fundraising and operations

  • Take on increasing ownership of real projects and outcomes

  • Build the skills, network, and confidence to start your own company

This is not a temporary position, you can stay longer if it’s right for both of us, but the intended arc is: learn → lead → rise. If, at the end of that journey, you decide to found something of your own, we’ll actively encourage it, and aim to be among the first people to back you.


The Role: FID – Business & Marketing

This FID track is focused on business, commercial strategy, marketing, and go-to-market for Higlo.

You’ll sit at the intersection of product, brand, customers, and growth. You’ll help answer questions like: Who is this really for? What do they value? How do we reach them? What do we ship next? And then you’ll help execute on the answers.

In this role, you will:

  • Shape our go-to-market strategy for the Hearth and the Higlo platform

  • Lead creative zero-day hacks and experiments to get our first thousands of true fans

  • Help define target customers, segments, and positioning, and translate that into messaging, landing pages, and campaigns

  • Work with the product and engineering team to align roadmap and features with real customer needs

  • Analyse customer behaviour and funnel data to understand what matters and where we’re leaking value

  • Design and run performance marketing and growth experiments (ads, email, content, partnerships, referrals, etc.)

  • Develop and manage channel and content partnerships (retail, distribution, creators, family communities)

  • Help build the Higlo brand: story, tone of voice, visual language, and how it shows up in the world

  • Use AI tools and agents daily, for research, content, analysis, and creative exploration

You’ll work very closely with the founders and the wider team, and you’ll be exposed to fundraising, strategy discussions, investor updates, and all the messy, interesting parts of building a company from the ground up.

Your Background Looks Something Like

There’s no single “right” CV, but you might recognise yourself in some of these:

  • Experience in marketing, growth, product marketing, strategy, or founder-type roles at a startup or ambitious company

  • Strong interest in consumer products, families, or new device categories

  • Comfortable with data and experimentation: funnels, cohorts, A/B tests, and basic analytics tools

  • Able to write clearly, from landing page copy to investor-style narratives

  • Technically comfortable: you don’t have to be an engineer, but you’re happy working with technical teams, and ideally can hack together simple things (e.g. basic JavaScript, Python, SQL, or no-code tools)

  • Curious and excited about AI and using AI tools as part of your daily work

  • Bonus: experience with partnerships, community-building, or creator / content ecosystems

If you’ve already tried starting something before (successful or not), that’s a big plus.

  • Are comfortable with ambiguity and learning in public

How We Think About Compensation & Ownership

Because this role is designed as a path to founding, we anchor compensation around what we think of as a “founder’s salary”, with a transparent progression over the three-year arc, plus meaningful equity (that you can keep).

The important part:

  • You get real ownership in Higlo

  • You keep that equity even if you later leave to found your own company

  • If you do decide to start something, we’ll aim to be among the first to back you (if it makes sense)

Working with Us

Higlo is split across two geographies, with offices in Edinburgh in the UK, and New York in the US. We work in a flexible way. We value in-person time for deep work, strategy, and building together, so we’d expect you to be able to spend time with us on the ground, but we’re not a rigid “five days in the office” culture.
