Hey! We’re team Higlo 👋
We’re building the AI era’s connected device for families. A new way for households to see, talk, and create experiences together across generations.
The physical part of our product, the Hearth, sits above the TV. The Hearth is a powerful device with a pair of 4K wide-angle cameras and microphone array, that lets families connect naturally together, as groups. You control the Hearth with gestures and voice, lift your hand to wake it, pinch your fingers to enter a shared space with your family. Inside, families talk, play, and build things together using our Shared Imagination Engine, a generative AI system that helps families create experiences rather than consume them.
The Hearth is inherently simple to use and safe, and more advance configuration and management of the your account is done through our Web Portal.
We’re small, but we’re building something ambitious and exciting and growing fast. We're building for families rather than individuals, and care deeply about products and technology that is humane, and multi-generational, for grown-ups and kids alike, that helps them create positive, creative and memorable experiences.
The Role
We’re looking for a Product Engineer (Full Stack + TVApp) who loves building products end-to-end, from system architecture to polished user interfaces. You’ll work across our TVApp (Android/Kotlin) and Web Portal (React), helping bring the Hearth’s experience to life, and you’ll be joining an early-stage, VC-backed startup where every contribution shapes the product.
In this role, you will:
Own and build new features across our TVApp, Web Portal, and backend systems
Develop immersive user experiences that run directly on the Hearth (Android in kiosk mode)
Work with Firebase, Supabase and other backend providers (Cloud Functions, Database, Storage, Realtime Database, Auth) and Node.js backend logic
Prototype rapidly, test with real families, and iterate fast based on what resonates
Use and extend our AI systems, including generative models and custom vision pipelines
Collaborate closely with founders and experienced engineers on everything from UI to low-level C++ camera control and audio signal processing chain
Explore how AI tools and coding agents (GPT, Claude, etc.) can improve productivity and creativity in real product work
This is a broad role, part Android engineer, part full stack developer, part builder. You’ll touch every layer of the system and work directly on features that go from a line of code to living rooms around the world.
Your Background Looks Something Like
Experience shipping products end-to-end, ideally across multiple platforms
Proficiency with Kotlin, React, TypeScript, and Node.js
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, we use Firebase and Supabase, but we’re open to evolution
Excitement for AI/ML, generative tools, or computer vision
Bonus: experience with C++, NDK, or embedded systems
Comfortable jumping between Android, backend, and frontend codebases
Curious about hardware–software interaction, and how digital experiences can live in physical spaces
As a Person, You…
Are first and foremost a builder
Are excited by zero-to-one product creation and rapid experimentation
Are comfortable wearing many hats and jumping into new areas
Care about creating technology that’s meaningful, not just smart
Value working with dedicated, ambitious, and pragmatic teammates
Believe AI is a partner in creativity, not a replacement for it
Thrive in a fast-paced environment where the mission comes first
About the Opportunity
We’re building something new, a device that brings families closer together in a world that’s pulled them apart.
This is an opportunity to join a VC-backed early-stage startup at the frontier of human–AI interaction, hardware, and communication. You’ll work directly with the founders, have broad ownership, and help define not only the product but also the company culture.
We offer competitive salary and meaningful equity, and we work flexibly, a mix of from home and in-person in our office in Edinburgh.
If this speaks to you, whether you tick every box or not, we’d love to hear from you.
